“STEPPING TOWARDS NORMAL” The University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos hosted the launching of Booster Vaccination in Higher Education last October 10. 2022. The event was participated by the School Heads and officials from various Tertiary Institutions in the province, students and personnel and representatives of the Media. Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson Hon. J. Prospero De Vera III, DPA with Commissioner Jo Mark M. Libre and CHEDRO VI Director Dr. Raul Alvarez, Jr., REE, CESO III led the said event. The activity commenced with Opening Formalities. Fr. Joel Alve, OAR gave the welcome remarks and was followed the message of Chairman De Vera. The ceremonial booster vaccination was led by Fr. Alve, Fr. Amadeo Lucero, OAR, Fr. Jose Alden Alipin, OAR, Fr. Samuel Eyas, OAR; Dr. Christer Marie Taclobos and a UNO-Nursing Student, who received their booster shots that afternoon. A Press Conference in the President’s Hall and Agape followed after the program.
De Vera said that he did not expect a large number of participants from Private Higher Educational institutions in Negros Occidental. He also thanked the personnel of the Department of Health for their courage as frontliners during the height of the pandemic. He expressed joy as he said that this is a day of celebration to recognize those who persevere and continue what the government has started. He also shared bringing back our normal daily and regular activities. This initiative aims to support and strengthen this administration’s “PINASLakas” program by conducting booster vaccinations in Schools and Universities.
