DR. DE LEON IS ACCEPTED AS HERMANA PROVINCIAL

The Order of Augustinian Recollects Province of St. Ezekiel Moreno admits Dr. Socorro Victoria Lim de Leon as Herman Provincial. On the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the Pre-novitiate Program of the Province, a Thanksgiving Mass and conferment of the titles Hermano General and Hermana Provincial was led by Fray Dionisio Selma, OAR last April 22, 2022, in Antipolo. Fray Romeo Ben Potencio, OAR was the homilist. Fr. Selma said that the conferment of the titles is a special recognition for people who have contributed their gifts from the Lord to serve the Order and the Province for the Glory of God and His people. Meanwhile, Fr. Potencio, in his homily, shared that the act of honoring our lay collaborators is an act of Worship and Evangelization. This is the glorification of God, Who gives us the necessary things to do what is good. This is evangelization for we give others an example to follow. This honor is telling everyone of the relevance of our identity and our mission. Our Lay collaborators have worked for us and within us and have participated in the mission of the Order. For this, we thank you, Fr. Potencio added. After the Thanksgiving Mass, two were conferred with the Title “Hermana Provincial” and two were also onferred with the titles of Hermano General. The Hermana provincial are Dr. Socorro Victoria Lim de Leon (Recoletos de Bacolod) and Mrs. Rosemarie Aldeon (Recoeltos de Caidiocan) while the Hermano Heneral are prof. Emmanuel Luis Romanillos and Bro. Edwin Ruiz, SARF.

Dr. Soccoro Victoria de Loen was recommended by the Recoletos de Bacolod community to be conferred as Hermana Provincial for her unselfish dedication, collaborative efforts, and strong faith in God. She strongly supports the mission-vision of the Order and has helped a lot of the local community and the Province as well. She has brought honor and prestige to the University. Dr. De Leon recalled that her close exposure to the Recollects was 17 years ago. She shared that it was during the Easter vigil that she was introduced to Fr. Demetrio Penascoza and she was offered the position of the Dean of the College of Business and Accountancy. She said that she had to choose and after prayer and family dialogue, she came up with the decision of joining UNO-Recoletos. She saw at UNO-R that the Caritas et Scientia was lived by everyone in the community. Love or Caritas is manifested in the accommodating, caring, helpful, supportive and appreciative behavior of all the members of the community. Knowledge or Scientia was manifested in the many academic laurels of the university in striving for greater heights. She saw how Caritas et Scientia of St. Augustine blended into the whole university setting. The University is an academic community that takes care of the lost, least, and the last. She had a paradigm shift to practice her profession in the health care service. However, she has not left the university. She is still teaching at the Graduate School and continues to campaign for students for the different programs of UNO-R. She also sits as a member of the UNO-R Board of Trustees and the Board of RESOURCE-Handumanan. She closed her message by saying that It is indeed a distinct honor to work with the Augustinian Recollects. She also said that we need to continue to touch lives and serve everyone. Above all, we need God’s grace in all the things that we do. Dr. De Leon was recently conferred with the honor of being a “Hermana Provincial” (Sister of the province of the OAR) of the OAR Province of St. Ezekiel Province and was awarded the UNO-R Caritas et Scientia Awards. She is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the Riverside Medical Center, Inc. and the Chief Finance Officer of the Riverside College, Inc. She is married to Calixto Alba de Leon and has three children namely: Bernhard Irwin(+); Mariella Michelle; and Stefan Karl Mathius, all alumni of UNO-R High School.

She is a fellow in the Philippine College of Hospital Administrators and has earned her degree in Ph.D. in Business Management from the RBGS she also earned units in MA in Education major in Special Education.
