BISHOP BUZON LEADS MASS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

September 16, 2021 – Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon,SDB, DD led the Mass of the Holy Spirit at 10 am at the Oratory of St. Nicholas of Tolentine. He was joined by Fray Don Besana, OAR; Fray Ronel Gealon, OAR; Fray Jose Alden Alipin, OAR; Fray Cristituto Palomar, OAR; Fray Romeo Ben Potencio, OAR; Fray Amadeo Lucero, OAR, and Fray Persiuz Decena, OAR.

In his homily, the Bishop told everyone to invoke the Holy Spirit because we now live in a world where there is so much destruction and untruthfulness. The gospel tells us that Jesus asks the Father to send the Spirit to lead us all into the truth. UNO-R, as a Catholic school, must uphold the truth. The Bishop told the community that he prays that personal knowledge and relationship with Jesus will continue to grow. He prays that the Holy Spirit of Life, protects each member of the community in this time of the pandemic. And he prays to the Holy Spirit, the spirit of love, that He fills our hearts with love so we share the gifts we received from God. We are all gifted to give, he quotes the theme of the 500 years of Christianity celebration.

He also conveyed three important messages to the community. First, we have to show our love as a fruit of faith in this moment of crisis. We have to do something with our common home. Simple things that could help our Mother Earth. Second, we need to share the love with others by simply following simple health protocols and being vaccinated. By doing so, we show how we love our neighbors by not spreading the virus, and lastly, we need to love our country by choosing the right leaders. Right leaders mean not recycled but young leaders with new ideas. He challenged the university community to produce this new breed of leaders- leaders who lead with Christ and the truth, the bishop added.
