UNO-R CELEBRATES ST. AUGUSTINE’S DAY

The university community of UNO-Recoletos celebrated St. Augustine’s family day for the university employees, August 26, 2016. The day started with the Holy Mass with Rev. Fr. Ronel Gealon, OAR, Vice Prior of Recoletos de Bacolod community and Director of Religious Education. Activities followed at the University Main lobby. The university personnel was divided into five (5) groups where they played parlor games and joined the trivia on the life of S. Augustine. The morning activities were capped by the search for the 2016 UNO-R King and Queen. Candidates were: Mr. Fernando Flores and Mrs. Imelda Matullano (Green); Engr. Franklin Calmerin and Dr. Ma. Theresa Chavez (Yellow); Mr. Christian Florencio and Mrs. Ma. Elena Doruelo (Red) Freddie Parreno and Mrs. Judy Mendoza(Orange); Mr. Mario Caro and Mrs. Barbara Cordova (Blue)In history, there were 2 crowned kings and queens of the university. Mr. Luis Claour and Mrs. Lourdes Mirasol (1996) were the first and Mr. Lino Sumbillo and Dr. Chona Mascuňana in 2010 were the second. 2016 UNO-R King and Queen are Mr. Caro and Cordova. The judges of the pageant were Rev. Fr. William Villaflor, OAR; Rev. Fr. Ronel Gealon, OAR; Fr. Louie Gabinete, OAR and Fr. Persiuz Joseph Decena, OAR. The contestants were judged through drawing of lots. In the afternoon, a bowling tournament was held at the Goldenfields Bowling alley. The program opened at around 1:30 with Rev. Fr. Walthrode Conde, OAR leading the opening Rites. The ceremonial throw was done by the religious administrators.
