The University of Negros Occidental –Recoletos Celebrated the feastday of St. Ezekiel Moreno, the patron saint of cancer patients, August 19. “ A walk for Healing” from the Capitol Lagoon Park to UNO-R at 6 am opened the celebration. Concelebrated Healing Mass at the university gym was presided by Rev. Fr. Raymond Asoy with Vice-Prior, Rev. Fr. Loreto Dacanay, OAR; university president, Fr. Edcel Celiz, OAR; university Chaplain, Fr. Alberto Avanzado, OAR; and Rev. Fr. Louie Gabinete, OAR concelebrating. Anointing of the sick was made after the Mass. Fr. Asoy in his homily stressed that the greatest miracle of God for all of us is the Eucharist but we have to be always in the state of grace in order for us to receive the miracle of the sacrament. He also stated that our faith should be deeply –rooted and not like the acacia tree whose roots are shallow. This year’s celebration is led by Rev. Fr. Abraham Latoza, OAR., UNO-R Vice President for Religious Affairs and Rev. Fr. Alberto Avanzado, OAR, university chaplain and in cooperation with the different units of the university. Likewise, Recoletos communities of St. Nicholas de Tolentino Parish in Talisay; St. Thomas de Villanova in San Carlos City; Recoletos Social Outreach Center (RESOURCE) in Handumanan and St. Ezekiel Moreno Monastery in Tangub.
