The University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos opens its University Week with the theme: “LOVE AND LEARNING, Educating the Mind and Heart” today, September 7, 2015. The celebrations will end on September 12. The annual activity is celebrated in honor of the university’s Patron Saint, St. Nicholas of Tolentino. The theme is based on the theme of the International Year of OAR Educational Apostolate. This is a celebration celebrated by the 40 OAR schools in 10 countries around the world. Today’s activities include: Run Recoletos at 6 am; 5th day of the Septenary Masses for St. Nicholas at 7:30 at the Oratory; InterSchool Drum and Bugle competition at the Amphitheater at 8:30am; Kasalan ng Bayan at 10 am; Poster –making and essay writing contests at 1 pm; Motorcade at 1:30; Opening Ceremonies and Cheer-dance at 2:30pm; and the Pageant Night of Mr. and Ms. Uno-r. Here are some of the Highlights of the celebrations on the succeeding days are: (September 8) Bloodletting activity and CCJE Foundation Anniversary; (September 9) Environmental Art Youth Camp; Grade School Literary Musical competitions; COMELEC Biometrics Registration; Thanksgiving Mass for the 25th Year in the Sacred Priesthood of Rev. Fr. Alberto Avanzado, OAR; PTA Musical Extravaganza; High School Litmus competition; (September 10) Procession and Concelebrated Mass in honor of St. Nicolas of Tolentino; Launching of the international Year of OAR Educational Apostolate; Walk and Dance ala Zumba; Basketbol de Nikolas; Mr. Gwapo –the reunion; Employees Night and Service Awards; (Sept. 11) Bridge building competition; Litmus tertiary; Masquerade Night for High School; (Sept. 12) UNOFELA Bingo socials ver. 6; CEAA Alumni Homecoming; Battle of the Bands and Fireworks display.
