UNO-R Faculty Dr. Ma. Riza T. Manalo , together with her husband Dr. Hernani D. Manalo, were among the presenters on the Fourth-Asia Pacific Conference on Global Business, Economics, Finance and Social Sciences that was held on August 7-9 at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with the theme “Final Inclusion: The Road Map!”. Dr. Manalo was also one of the panelists in the paper presentations. Out of 80 papers that were screened, 50% were chosen for the future publication . The chosen half was evaluated and only 26 were qualified to present. The two entries “The Nascent Entrepreneurs of Firq, Nizwa, Sultanate of Oman: Their Business Start-Up Barriers” and “Family In – Family Out: Social Capital Entrepreneurs Perspective” were among the 26 conference papers that were presented. Dr.Manalo shared she is very well interested in research “I love research. Research is important component of instruction. No new ideas will be formed without research in teaching. It makes people go on other places … to share ideas. Exposure to this, I would be able to motivate others to do research.” Establishment of international linkages for the university is one of the positive effects of this endeavor. Last August 21, Dr. Manalo received a communication from the Global Biz Organization (the organizer of the conference) inviting her to be on the Editorial Advisory Board. The committee that evaluates and edits for the journals that are submitted to the organization. She was also invited to join them as Research Referee. (Angelica N. Javellana , BSMS-III)
