UNO- R student stabbed dead

An engineering student was stabbed dead by his friend after a drinking spree at a place behind the Shell Select in Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod City, at about 3:15 a.m. Saturday. Station 3 chief, Senior Insp. Dianne Grace Aquitania, identified the victim as Emmanuel Batayo, 18, of Villa Hergon, Silay City in Negros Occidental, and a student of the University of Negros Occidental- Recoletos. She said Batayo sustained two stab wounds on the left side of his chest and left armpit. Batayo was brought to the Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival, Aquitania said. Investigation showed that Batayo and his friends were about to go home when a commotion ensued. Witnesses claimed that Kevin Barañao, 21, of Capitol Hills, Brgy. Estefania in Bacolod pulled out a belt knife and stabbed Batayo twice. Barañao escaped, but the belt knife with blood stains was recovered by the security guard of the Shell Select and was turned over to Police Station 3.
