December 14 will officially open the Christmas season at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos. A parade of lights and lighting of the Giant Christmas tree, parols and opening of the Life-size nativity set will be held at the Paseo Rekoleto at 5:30 pm. Fr. President is to deliver his Christmas message to the students. This is a joint project of the UNO-R Administration, UNOR Supreme Student Government , College Councils and the Campus Organization Federation.
Meanwhile, an inter-school Da-igon contest tagged as “Da-igon: Pagsug-alaw kay kristo” will be held at the university gym at 5 pm on December 16. The choirs from Fr. Gratian Murray Integrated School, Granada; NOHS, Bacolod; BCNHS; Domingo Lacson National High School, Bacolod; Tabao National High School, Valladolid; and Doña Monserrat Lopez Memorial High School, Silay will compete with one another. This is a ticketed program and proceeds will go to the Recoletos Vocation jamboree sometime in March 2012 at UNO-R.
The UNO-R@50 EXECOM in cooperation with the office of Student Affairs, Blue and Gold Alumni Association, Inc. and SN Travel and Tours, is sponsoring the annual inter-college Da-igon contest on December 20 at 6 PM. Expected to compete are the 7 colleges of the university.
