“UNO-R 1st Employees’ Night was a 3-in-1 celebration”

The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos held its “1st Employees Night 2009” on Sept. 10 and presented three kinds of awards- Star of Tolentine, St. Ezekiel Moreno Service, and the Most Outstanding Employees – to 51 personnel for their dedicated, unselfish service.

Rev. Fr. Dionisio Cachero, OAR, University President and Rev. Fr. Joel Alve, OAR, Vice-President for Administration, gave the Star of Tolentine Awards Cristina Lamis for 38 years of service, Magelende Demegillo -32 years, both from Grade School Department, Charito Montinola -19 years, Maintenance Department, and Ma. Loreto Portus – 29 years, College of Business and Accountancy.

The St. Ezekiel Moreno Service Awards for 30 years of service, teaching personnel category, were given to Thelma Calderon of the College of Business and Accountancy, and Freddie Parreño and Nida Tomarong of Grade School Department.

For 25 years of service were Barbara Cordova -Teacher’s College, Liba Doza – Grade School Department, Clarita Lacson – College of Business and Accountancy, Villaflora Lorca – College of Engineering, and Leila Marba HighSchool Department.

As to the 20 year awardees, they were Yolanda Fernadez – College of Engineering, Alejandro Ogapong – College of Engineering, Antonio Valente – College of Arts and Sciences, and Marlene Gelotin, Ma. Luisa Papa and Lyn Villarente – Grade School Department.

Mary Jane Machan and Cendy Sapul of the Grade School Department, along with Julio Jude Rosales of the College of Arts and Sciences were awarded for their 15 year of service.

Ten years service awardees were Maria Azela De Villa of the College of Nursing, Jovito Moral – Religious Department and Adelyn Sia – College of Arts and Sciences.

Meanwhile, as to the non- teaching personnel category awardees, they were Violeta Caunca of the Registrars Office for 30 years of service, Myrna Baynosa – Campus Ministry office, Jose Ferraris – Student Placement and Development Center, and Ma. Crisitna Quillo – Fray Luis De Leon Library – 25 years, Elsa Aliermo- High School Student Placement and Development Center, Ma. Judy Legaspi- President’s Office, and Nena Samillano- UNO-R Center for Cultural and Professional Development – 20 years, and Maria Kanaway Blanco, Mary Jane Barayoga, Marilou Calaguing and Norberto Sardito Jr.-15 years.

The limelight was also directed to the recipients of the Outstanding Employee Awards, led by Department of Student Affairs’ Luz Cielo Ganza who was recognized as the Most Outstanding Employee of UNO-R.

Other awardees were Harry Magluyan, High School Department, as Most Outstanding Faculty, and Virginia De los Reyes, Accounting office, as Most Outstanding Personnel.

Outstanding Academic employees were Rufus Javier Jr., College of Arts and Sciences, Ma, Loreto Portus – College of Business and Accountancy; Sally Kalalang – College of Criminal Justice Education, Ma. Elena Doruelo – College of Education, Villaflora Lorca – College of Engineering, Hubert Lisas – College of Information and Technology, Leila Marba – High School Department, and Marlene Gelotin – Grade School Department.

Eden Galve (Academic Non-teaching personnel) and Josette Juen (Non-teaching personnel) were recognized as Outstanding Personnel.

The Zero-Absences and Zero-Tardiness personnels were awarded to Virginia De los Reyes, Josette Juen and Bismar Peñascoza.

The Star of Tolentine Awards were given to retirees their legacy of service, while the St. Ezekiel Moreno Service Award are presented for those who gave continuous.

Before the event ended, the OAR Administrators presented a song and a dance number to which the audience responded with a warm applause.#
