UNO-R hosts “Workshop on Intellectual Property (IP) Policy Development”

UNO-R played host to the “Workshop on Intellectual Property (IP) Policy Development” conducted by the Intellectual Property (IP) Office of the Philippines in cooperation with the University last December 2-3, 2008 at the Fr. Cuenca Hall.

The one day and a half introductory course on intellectual property for universities included lectures on basic IP principles and salient features of the IP code.  The course emphasized on the importance of adopting and institutionalizing an IP policy by target institutions.  There were 27 participants from different state colleges and universities and private higher education institutions in Region VI.

Speakers were Atty. Louie Andrew C. Calvario, Chief of the Copyright Support Services, Information and Technology Transfer; Dr. Rex Casiple, Chief Education Program Specialist of CHED Region VI, and Dr. Paciencia P. Milan, University Professor at the VisayasState University.

Welcome Message was given by Fr. Emeterio D. Buñao, OAR, Director of Scholarships.  Atty. John Paolo A. Villasor, Dean of the UNO-R School of Law, gave the Closing Remarks.  Coordinators and organizers of the workshop were Ms. Meg Garcia of the IP Office of the Philippines and Mrs. Arabella Ananoria, UNO-R Director of Libraries.  The Technical Secretariat was composed of the Library and IMC personnel.
