Walk for Healing

 

A walk for healing in honor of St. Ezekiel Moreno was organized by the Office of the Vice President for Student Welfare and Student Affairs in cooperation with the Office of the Vice President for External Affairs last August 19, 2007. The walk commenced from the Provincial Lagoon and ended at the UNO-R Gym.

 

The walk was led by the UNO-R Religious Administrators and followed by the different banners of the faces of St. Ezekiel Moreno, Patron Saint of Cancer Patients.

 

Students, faculty and staff of University of St. La Salle, Colegio de San Agustin-Bacolod, La Concolacion College-Main, West Negros College and other colleges and schools in Bacolod joined their counterparts from UNO-R in a mile-long walk. An estimated of 3,500 joined the walk. A Php 5.00 registration fee was asked from the participants and the amount collected was given to the members of the Forum Against Cancer through Encouragement and Support (FACES).

 

The main intention of the walk is for the healing of our cancer survivors and for national peace and unity.

 

The Healing Mass started at 7:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Hernando, OAR as the Main Celebrant. He was joined by Rev. Fr. William Villaflor, OAR, Fr. Sixto Bitangjol, OAR and Fr. Hernan Cañete, OAR. Healing of cancer survivors and other sick persons followed after the Mass by Fr. Hernando, OAR.

 

This is a part of the week-long celebration in honor of St. Ezekiel Moreno. Other activities were: Novena Masses, Launching of the “Walk of Fame”, Ezekiel 100 fun-run and exhibits at the main lobby.
