UNO-R Top Execs attend International Confabs

Fr. Demetrio S. Peñascoza, OAR, President of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R), Bacolod City, qualified for an International Course granted by Galilee College, Israel in conjunction with Harvard University-Extension School. This international program, the 17th Management of Higher Education Institutions Seminar, is slated January 15-26, 2007.

 

 

Since its establishment in 1987, Galilee College has offered management training and capacity building seminars to senior officials and decision makers from around the globe: Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin and North America, the Middle East and the Pacific.

 

The Galilee College “Management of Higher Education Institutions” programme was initiated in recognition of the need for a programme specifically tailored to meet the challenges facing the leadership of today’s Higher Education institutions.

Fr. Peñascoza, who celebrates his 25th anniversary of religious life, received a tuition scholarship from Galilee College and financial assistance both from the University and the Order of Augustinian Recollects, Province of St. Ezekiel Moreno, Philippines. 

 

Meanwhile, Fr. Raul M. Buhay, OAR, UNO-R Vice President for Academics, spoke to 31 participants from Asia and Africa in a seminar tagged “Encuentro” held last January 8-13, 2007 in Lima, Peru.  Convoked by the Generalate of the Order of Augustinian Recollects (OAR), the said convention focused on the ministerial apostolate of the Recollects in Asia and America.

Fr. Buhay, who represented the OAR in Asia, gave a talk on “The Situation of Asia and Its Challenges to the Recollects”.  Religious participants came from US, Spain, Mexico, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, and Philippines.  Upon his arrival in US, Fr. Buhay served for a while the Immaculate Conception Parish in Brentwood, California where he also prepared for his talk in Peru. (mjblegaspi)
