Seven Bagonhon students who are currently taking up Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Major in Crop Science and Animal Science at the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos (UNO-R) in Bacolod City and have been selected as scholars of the Agriculture Program Scholarship Grant of the City Government of Bago, have signed their affidavit of undertaking at the City Mayor’s Office, November 20.
Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo witnessed the signing, together with City Agriculturist-Designate Marvin Balnce, UNO-R Director of Planning and External Affairs, Dr. Carlos Eduardo Legaspi Jr., Associate Director of the UNO-R Scholarship’s Office Sara Jane Gayat, and School of Agriculture Department Head, Dr. Paul Oñal.
The scholars are Tyler Domasico, Dyna Mae Anayan and Gendel Sausa Alianza from Barangay Sagasa, Sidney Jay Montaño and Christian Plomeda from Barangay Busay, Erika Agana from Barangay Alianza, and Paula Shyll Carlos of Barangay Dulao.
Bago City is the first local government unit in the province to partner with the University in providing full scholarships to deserving yet underprivileged students who are interested in taking agriculture courses. This is also in support of the government’s advocacy for food security through encouraging young individuals to pursue agriculture. Dr. Legaspi, for his part, extended the Father President’s gratitude to Mayor Yulo and the local government for making this endeavor possible.
Also present were City Administrator Designate Tricia Maatti and staff, along with Planning and External affairs READS, Krisha Ursula, among others. (News by Kyla Arribas, BS MassComm Alumna via The CityBridge)
