UNO-R PAO SPEARHEADS ANTI-DENGUE CAMPAIGN

The UNO-R Property Administrator’s Office spearheaded the Anti-Dengue campaign in the campus from the last week of July to the end of August. Last July 20 and 27 fogging was done at the different areas of the university. Last July 27, the IMAGS with Mr. Ildefonso Obligado and Mrs. Mely Flores led the IMAGS for a “Search and Destroy clean-up” at the School of Agriculture area and on all areas last August 2. Last August 6, Mrs. Flores had a consultation meeting with DOH-City Health and was given Mosquito Control chemicals and Anti-dengue campaign materials. These anti-dengue paraphernalia will be utilized for the whole month. Cutting/ trimming and clearing of the areas probable to be mosquito breeding sites will be an on-going activity for the month.

Fray Jose Teodulfo Jadulco, OAR met with Dr. Legislador and Mr. Dexter Paul Dioso, PhD (DSA) and provided them with PAO’s anti-dengue campaign activities. It was then suggested that the “Search and Destroy” clean-up activities should go on for this is the most effective way of minimizing the spread of dengue-virus carrying mosquitos. Another suggestion was the Colleges to produce informational videos about dengue. The DSA also said that the Supreme student Government was sponsoring a seminar, August 8, on ECC and possibly Dengue –awareness shall be included. On the hand, Dr. Legislador said that he is willing to talk about dengue and other health-related concerns to the IS parents. Meanwhile, the Office of Student Welfare and Student Affairs has temporarily suspended the use of the school uniform for all tertiary students provided they wear long pants and have to adhere to the policies on wearing civilian clothes in the campus. The Integrated School has also temporarily allowed students to wear long pants and civilian clothes.
