The University of Negros Occidental –Recoletos community celebrated its institutional Christmas party with the theme, “For unto us, a CHILD is born.” at the university gymnasium, December 21, 2018. The celebration opened with a community Mass led by Recoletos de Bacolod Prior Rev. Fr. William C. Villaflor, OAR. The preacher was Rev. Fr. Amadeo Lucero, OAR who reminded the community of the presence of Christ amidst all the distractions in our spiritual lives. The Eucharistic celebration was followed by a para- liturgy prayer for peace and release of doves by UNOFELA and Administration. A community procession was held from the oratory to the gymnasium. The Christmas program opened with the message of the Chairman of the 2018 Christmas Party, Rev. Fr. Alden Alipin, OAR. He greeted everyone and told him of the joy because of the presence of the community. He also said that the essence of the season is to be with family. Fr. President then shared his Christmas message. He said that there are three gifts for each one of us this season. These are material gifts, spiritual gifts and above all the gift of person. All of us are gifts and we have to love one another. All the colleges and departments made a superb performance dancing to the beat of Latin music. Mr. Vincent Qui, Dr. John Clifford Salugsugan and Mr. Ruel Villarosa were awarded with “Best in costume” – male category while Ms. Maria Hibaler, Mrs. Gerlyn Cordero and Mrs. Leila Magalona were adjudged the best in female category. The Grand prize (bedroom showcase) was won by Mrs. Catherine Sebastian.
