The UNO-R Student Development and Placement Center held its first Suicide Awareness Activity last September 7, 2018. This is in line with National Suicide Awareness Month which commenced September 10. The activity was spearheaded by Ms. Cris Feli Joy Tajonera, MSGC, RGC, and Ms. Ma. Karla Diamante. The Suicide Awareness Activity was conducted in memory of the senior Criminology student who took his own life last year. The department hopes that they could somehow show people the impact of suicidal thoughts to the person and the community. The SDPC informs everyone that its doors are always open for people who wish to open up their problems. They will find a family and a safe haven in the corners of the four walls. “For those who are experiencing suicidal thoughts, the SDPC will be there for you if you want to talk things out. You’re not alone in this problem,” says Ms. Diamante, a counselor and in-charge of the activity. “You have to survive life because life is beautiful.” (Bianca Cababahay, BSMC 1)
