Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon, SDB, DD called on the members of the Clergy, Religious, Heads of Schools and the Christian faithful to be in solidarity with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) in condemning the brutal killing of Fr. Richmond Nilo last June 10, 2018. In his circular, the Bishop expresses his strongest protest over this killing as an “outrageously evil act”. He further calls on the authorities for a speedy resolution of the case. In line with this and other inhuman acts against the clergy, religious and the Christian faithful, he invites everyone to observe June 24-29 as Days of Reparation and Mourning. Activities lined up for the observance are inclusion in the homilies, especially on June 24, the reality of killings in the country; special prayer intention in the prayers of the faithful; declaration of June 29 as Day of Fasting and Abstinence; Offer masses for the dead; Holy Hour at 3 pm on June 29; Penitential Procession from the Sacred Heart Shrine to the San Sebastian Cathedral on the 29th; and Mass for the Dead at 5:15 on June 29 at the San Sebastian Cathedral and praying of the holy rosary on the duration of the Days of Penance and Mourning with this particular intention.
