Two of three UNO-R teams that represented Western Visayas in the 2018 National Private Schools Sports Association (PRISAA) games took the championships in the annual games held in Tagbilaran City Bohol April 22-27.
The all-UNO-R Women Beach Volleyball Team mentored by Jason Delmo successfully defended the crown it won last year in Iba, Zambales while the Luis Miguel Arca –coached Men Athletics team, with reinforcements from USLS, WIT and FCU, won its first –ever National PRISAA title. Champion Beach Volleybelles Erjane Magdato, Alexa Poilidario and Jenny Mar Senares, together with Hanna Mae Bollistar , also helped CPU-WVPRISAA’s indoor women volleyball squad to the title.
UNO-R stalwarts in the men track squad were double gold medalist Jose Jerry Belbistre and Micael Mana-ay, javelin silver medalist Ernesto Perarin, Discuss Bronze medalist Francis John Escora and racewalker Johny Mayongue. The all-UNO-R Men Chess squad of Lyster Franz and Renz Lloyd Andador, Jan Danielle Magalona, Almar Franco and Spencer de Guzman took the bronze.
Other UNO-R champions were Arlyn Saul (gold, high jump) and Thanya Andrea Ibasco (bronze, discus), who were picked to the FCU-WVPRISAA women athletics team, and Luis Clauor and Paul Klinbert Cordova who reinforced the STI WNU-WVPRISAA boys football team. St. John Deroa, Arlon Sabordo and coach Richard de la Cruz help CPU-WVPRISAA’s men sepak Takraw team to a silver medal finish while Jemel Carbon and Argie Mar de la Cruz were members of the Bronze medal USLS-WVPRISAA men football squad.
