The community of the University of Negros Occidental –Recoletos celebrated the feast of the solemnity of our Father, St. Augustine, August 25, 2017. The day started with the Concelebrated Mass led by Rev. Fr. Abraham Latoza, OAR and joined by House Prior, Rev. Fr. William Villaflor, OAR; Fr. President, Rev. Fr. Eduardo Celiz, Jr., OAR; Rev. Fr. Louie Gabinete, OAR, Rev. Fr. Persiuz Joseph Decena, OAR and Rev. Fr. Manuel Lipardo, OAR. Fr. Latoza shared in his homily that everyone is called to holiness and we should partake of the holiness of the saints for we are all brothers and sisters. A procession from the Oratory of St. Nicholas of Tolentino to the main lobby followed the Mass. The community celebrated the family day with parlor games in the morning and a bowling competition among teams in the afternoon. A search for UNO-R King and Queen was held in the morning where Mr. Jose Caballero and Mrs. Ginalyn Libosada of the RED team won the title. Other winners were Fr. Eduardo Celiz, Jr. OAR and Dr. Carmenda Leonoras – 1st runner-up; Engr. Christopher Taclobos and Ms. Susan Escalona (Orange) – 2nd runner-up; Engr. Noli Ortiz and Ms. Apple Treyes (yellow) – 3rd runner -up and Mr. Freddie Parreno and Leila Magalona (Blue) – 4th runner -up. Previous UNO-R Kings and Queens are Mr. Luis Clauor (+) and Mrs. Lourdes Mirasol, Mr. Lino Sumbillo and Dr. Chona Mascuňana; and Mr. Mario Caro and Mrs. Barbara Cordova.
