Philip Lui Deocadiz and Shandel Revalez of the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos Mass Communication Department were the Champions in the Dance Sports-Latin Category during the CHED National Games 2010 held last February 26 at the Rizal Technological University in Mandaluyong City. Deocadiz and Revalez were also champions during the NOPSSCEA Dance Sports competition and during the WVPRISAA Cultural Meet. Mr. Ruel Calansingin is the cultural coordinator.
Five UNO-R Grade School pupils qualified to join the 2010 Mathematics Training Guild (MTG) Young Mathematicians’ In-House Intensive Training Program to be held in the City of Balanga, Bataan on March 26-29.
Engr. Bruce Sharp, Ph.D. of the University of Melbourne recently accepted the invitation of the Recoletos de Bacolod Graduate School (RBGS) to be an adjunct professor in the University of Negros Occidental.

The outreach project that was submitted by the College of Education earned merits from the NOPSSCEA Outreach Task Force chaired by Dr. Angelina J. Guinanao. Mr. Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino, former commissioner of the National Youth Commission, fellow of Asia society Foundation’s Philippines 21 Program, and TAYO (Ten Accomplished Youth Organization) Awardee visited UNO-R on the 15th of January to speak before the students in a forum at the University Auditorium.
The whole Mass Communication Department joined the 3rd Bishop-Media Forum held at the Sanctuario de La Salle last January 14. The forum was the first of a series of candidates’ fora spearheaded by the Diocese of Bacolod Commission on Social Communications.
