UNO-R Administrator participates in The Climate Project Training in China

Brother Jaazeal Jakosalem, OAR, UNO-R Property Administrator, was selected as one of the trainees of The Climate Project Training in China. The training is ongoing from June 9-12, 2010, in Beijing, P.R.C. Former Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore, with the cooperation of Alliance for Climate Protection, The Climate Project, and the China-U.S. Center for Sustainable Development is organizing the training session. The event, held with the support of the Chinese government, led by the Ministry of Science and Technology, will see Vice President Gore personally train a cross-section of 300 Chinese citizens and selected participants from other countries (US, Indonesia, UK and the Philippines) who share a commitment to reduce the harmful effects of climate change.

Brother Jaazeal Jakosalem, OAR representing the Greenheart Hermitage of the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos, is one of the presenters of the 4th Bay Area Schools Environmental Conference in San Jose, California held at the Dolce Hayes Mansion Hotel last May 1, 2010.

UNO-R Awards Outstanding Student Leaders

In a simple ceremony held at the UNO-R Auditorium, eleven student leaders were awarded as UNO-R outstanding student leaders for 2010.  These are student leaders who have worked beyond the call of duties and have displayed a mark of distinction during the year.  The awardees are Thessa Alba; Aireen Amen; Arbe Bertuso;  Leoble Lyn Española;  Janna Mary Lagare;  Shea Kaye Palenge; Glezia Marie Perez, Earl Jude Ruiz; Benjie Placido; Rollaine Redil and Donson John Sadava.

Lagare Leads UNO-R 64TH Graduation Rites

THOS awardee Janna Mary Lagare, a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English student, will lead the graduates of the University of Negros Occidental –Recoletos during the 64th Commencement ceremonies today, March 20, 2010 at the UNO-R Amphitheater at 5 P.M.  Lagare will be delivering the valedictory address.  She will also be the recipient of the University Leadership Medal.

RBGS Honors Graduates

Recoletos de Bacolod Graduate School will award its outstanding graduates at the UNO-R Little Theater after the Baccalaureate Mass and ceremonies today.  Dr. Socorro de Leon, Dr. Merlita Caelian and Dr. Renante Decena will be graduating with High Academic Distinction.  They will also be given special award for most outstanding Dissertation.

Graduating with Academic Excellence are Dr. Edmund Acosido; Dr. Merle Montealegre and Andrea Joanne Torre, MBA.  Acosido  is also an awardee for most outstanding dissertation and  Michelle Saplada, MBA with outstanding thesis.

2 UNORians TOSP Regional Finalists

Janna Mary Lagare and Glezia Marie Perez, alumni of UNO-Recoletos were among the 18 regional finalists from Region VI for the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP). They are attending the Regional Formation workshop in Iloilo City from April 4 to 10, 2010.  The awarding will be on April 10,2010.
