The University joined two other institutions of higher learning, VMA Global College and LCC-Bacolod, in the presentation of the results of the CHED-funded research entitled “Establishing Baseline Data on Mangrove Development in Brgy. Punta Taytay: Basis for a Livelihood Program” held last December 5, 2008 at the VMA Global College in Sum-ag, Bacolod City.
The UNO-R High School Department joined Diwa Learning Systems Incorporated in sponsoring the seminar, “Effects of Mass Media to the Values of the Youth” last November 15 at the University Auditorium.
The UNO-R High School Department emerged Second (Over-All) in this year’s Division Schools Press Conference held November 3-4.

A planning session was held on October 6 at the President’s Office Conference Room in line with the upcoming Recoletos Friendship Games scheduled November 29 to 30. The meeting that was convoked and presided by University President, Fr. Sixto M. Bitangjol, OAR, was attended by Fr. Edwin Macmac, OAR (SSC-R, Manila), Fr. Joel Naranja, OAR (SPA, Valencia), Mr. Fernando Bulado (SPA-R, Caidiocan), Mr. Ronnie Gumia (UNO-R, Talisay), and Fr. Antonio Limchaypo, OAR and Mr. Ericson Rios of UNO-R, Bacolod.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the University of Negros Occidental –Recoletos and the UNO High School class 1958 during the Grand Alumni Homecoming of the Blue and Gold Alumni Association, Inc. last September 27, 2008 at the Uno-R Gym. Rev. Fr. Sixto Bitangjol, OAR represented UNO-R while class ’58 was represented by its class president Ms. Teresita Padilla Limgenco. The signing was witnessed by Atty. Mateo Valenzuela, BGAAI President, Emma Libo-on Kowalski and Dr. Vilma Azucena.
