Angels

 

The Elementary Department held the Living Rosary and Angels’ Day last Friday, October 3, at the University gym.  This activity aimed to instill in the minds and hearts of the pupils the love for Mother Mary and the awareness of the existence of the guardian angels that are sent by heaven to guide God’s most beautiful creation – the man.

REED Calls for “Cell Phoneless Day”

“To give face” to the virtues of self – denial, charity and prayerfulness that were the hallmarks of the life of St. Nicolas de Tolentino , the Religious Education (REED) Department is sponsoring the “Cell Phoneless Day” on the Feast of  St. Nicholas of Tolentine on September 10, 2008.

UNO-R Celebrates St. Ezekiel Day

        August 19, 2008 is the 101st death anniversary of St. Ezekiel Moreno,OAR.  St. Ezekiel is a missionary who has lived a part of his life at the Convento de Rekoleto at Talisay City.  He stayed under the medical care of the famous Recollect missionary, Padre Fernando Cuenca. St. Ezekiel was later assigned as Bishop of Pasto, Colombia, where he was afflicted by cancer and later succumbed to it in August 19, 1907. Soon, Pope John Paul II declared him as Protector Saint of Cancer patients.

Brother Jakosalem Joins the 37th Annual Convention of the Religious Brothers Conference

    Bro. Jaazeal Jakosalem, OAR attended the 37th Annual Convention of the Religious Brothers Conference (RBC) at St. Louis Marriott West Hotel, St. Louis, Missouri last July 25-28, 2008. He represented the National Federation of Religious Brothers in the Philippines (NFRBP). The theme of  the conference this year is "In Our Own Backyards: Challenges and Invitations for Brothers of the Americas ."  The  Keynote Presenter was Fr. Allen Figueroa Deck, SJ.  Fr. Deck is Director of the Office of Cultural Diversity in the Church for the US Conference of Catholic Bishops.  In his presentations, Fr. Allen discussed the  "cutting edge issues" of the brothers ministries with the immigrants (Hispanics, Europeans and Asians). Almost two hundred (200) Brothers from across the US attended the said convention.

3rd Youth Jamboree

Around 600 participants from different schools in the province joined the 3rd Youth Jamboree last March 1 and 2 at the UNO-Recoletos Amphitheater. It was organized by the UNO-Recoletos Campus Ministry Office, VP-External Office and Director of Student Affairs Office. Children of Mary (COM), Students Catholic Action of the Philippines (SCAP), College of Education Interns and member of different religious congregations acted as facilitators during the activity.

A walk for healing in honor of St. Ezekiel Moreno was organized by the Office of the Vice President for Student Welfare and Student Affairs in cooperation with the Office of the Vice President for External Affairs last August 19, 2007. The walk commenced from the Provincial Lagoon and ended at the UNO-R Gym.
