UNO-R Commemorates Maguindanao Massacre

The students of UNO-Recoletos  College of Arts and Sciences, Mass Communication Society, Tolentine Star, Kabataan-Rekoleto, Supreme Student Government (UNOSSGO) and the Campus Organization Federation(COF) held a short program and  candle lighting ceremony commemorating the 9th month anniversary of the Maguindanao Massacre at the Paseo Rekoleto last August 23, 2010.

VP-Academics Fr. Alve encourages book writing, praises book authors

“All of us are budding authors.”

 

UNO-R Vice President Joel Alve, OAR, in his acknowledgement and inspirational message on the occasion of the official book launching of Biology: A Laboratory Manual and the College Physics 1 Laboratory Manual, encouraged the members of the College of Arts and Sciences and the whole UNO-R community to follow the examples of book authors, CAS Faculty Ronnie Gicana and Dr. Vilma Azucena, by becoming book writers.

2 UNORians TOSP Regional Finalists

Janna Mary Lagare and Glezia Marie Perez, alumni of UNO-Recoletos were among the 18 regional finalists from Region VI for the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP). They are attending the Regional Formation workshop in Iloilo City from April 4 to 10, 2010.  The awarding will be on April 10,2010.

UNO-R CAS Holds 3 in 1 Events

The University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos  ,PAASCU accredited level III, College of Arts and Sciences celebrated  a three-in-one activity from March 3 – 5, 2010.  The Social/behavioral Sciences Department;  the Natural Science, Math and Agriculture Department and the Mass Communication Department  simultaneously held activities.

UNO-Rians Shine in National Tilts

Philip Lui Deocadiz and Shandel Revalez of the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos Mass Communication Department were the Champions in the Dance Sports-Latin Category during the CHED National Games 2010 held last February 26 at the Rizal Technological University in Mandaluyong City.  Deocadiz and Revalez were also champions during the NOPSSCEA Dance Sports competition and during the WVPRISAA Cultural Meet. Mr. Ruel Calansingin is the cultural coordinator.

American Scientist Speaks to MedTech Students

The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, College of Arts and Sciences, Medical Technology Department is strengthening its linkages with international schools by having a visiting staff from Cornell University New York last.  She is Prof. Cosette Ibañez Kooser, a Research Specialist/Andrologist of the Center of Reproductive Medicine, Cornell University New York.  Hearing the person is a rare and extremely valuable opportunity.  She is an expert in laboratory research for several years in the USA, including the Study of West Nile Virus under the Department of Health, New York, study on El-Tor under the Philippine-Japan WHO Research Studies and the latest is the newest fast advancing field on Reproductive Medicine at the CornellUniversity.  Prior to engaging in research, she had been actively involved in teaching, handling Science and Math at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, teaching professional subjects in Medical Technology at  Perpetual Help College, Manila and in the School of Health Technology at Bauchi, Nigeria.

UNO-Rians Shine in National & International Stints

UNO-Rians have once again proven their worth!

All-time achievers Mrs. Marian Eusoya, Head of the Medical Technology Department of the College of Arts and Sciences, is the National Honoree in the Search for “The Many Faces of the Teacher for 2009”, sponsored by Bato Balani Foundation, Inc. and Diwa Foundation. The search is an advocacy campaign to recognize and honor Filipino teachers as role models who can inspire excellence by virtue of their dedication to their profession. Mrs. Eusoya was awarded during the Tribute to Teachers last September 19, 2009 at the Smx Convention Center, Pasig City.

Meanwhile, Reyma Barrios, an Education coed, bagged the Championship in the World Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City. CONGRTULATIONS TO BOTH OF YOU! WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!- from your U NO-R Family.
