MedTech Alumna is TOSP Finalist

Anna Lorraine L. Bantugay, a member of Medtech batch 2009 who graduated Cum Laude, has qualified as finalist in the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) 2009 Regional Level according to a communication from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Director, Dr. Isabela L. Mahler.

Batch ’58 returns with a haven of grace

Through the joint efforts of UNO High School Class of 1958 and the UNO-Recoletos Administration, a Faculty Lounge opened for the teachers of the UNO-Recoletos High School Department.

Spearheaded by Class President Mrs. Teresita P. Limgenco, the High School Faculty Lounge named after the class’ principal Arturo C. Salillas opened on March 21st, 2009, 10 am.

“It was a project of love because I have a soft heart for teachers,” said Mrs. Limgenco on the lounge, “I told my batch that ‘I need one Hail Mary from each of you’,” she continued, showing her devotion to the project.

Accompanied with her were Treasurer Ms. Jasmin R. Sarabia, Board of Directors Representative Ms. Fulgia R. Hofileria, and Secretary Mr. Jorge P. de Los Reyes who shared the same sentiments about the lounge.

“It feels great; it feels great to be back to reminisce our high school life,” said Ms. Sarabia.

The lounge donned a plaque of Batch ’58 as well as a dining table and kitchen package. It had the allure of grandeur as it would encase the memories to come. Complete with a sofa, PC, and air-conditioning, the haven for teachers promised to give the best the teachers can give.

UNO-R pays tribute to Atty. Kilayko

The University paid a special tribute to a member of the clan of founders of UNO-R, a former administrator, a former President of the Blue and Gold Alumni Association, Inc., and the sole lay member of the UNO-R, Inc. Board of Trustees – Atty. Jose Maria Kilayko (who succumbed to liver cancer on February 15, 2009) – after the celebration of the Holy Mass on February 17 at the Rolling Hills Memorial Chapel, Mandalagan, Bacolod City.  The Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr. Sixto M. Bitangjol, OAR with Fr. Antonio S. Limchaypo, OAR as the homilist and with Msgr. Victorino Rivas, Fr. Jay Parilla, OAR, Fr. Excel Saycon, OAR, and Fr. Jesmar Manato as concelebrants.

Two UNO-R Alumni receive PRC Awards

 
Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Head of the Medical Technology Department of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, Marian Montinola-Eusoya received the Outstanding Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) at PRC Awards Night last June 20, at the Fiesta Pavilion of the historic landmark Manila Hotel. Chairwoman Leonor T. Rocero and Commissioner Ruth R. Padilla of the PRC awarded Eusoya. UNO-Recoletos Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences and Vice-President of Student Welfare, Fr. Joel A. Alve, OAR and NOPSSCEA Executive Secretary Mrs. Feliciana Porter accompanied Ms. Eusoya.

UNO-R BGGAI Holds Homecoming

 

The Blue and Gold Alumni Association, Inc., the official alumni association of ONI, UNO and UNO-R will hold its general alumni homecoming on September 29, 2007 at the UNO-R gymnasium. The homecoming will start with a Mass at the Oratory at 7 a.m. and be followed by a motorcade around the city and back to the gymnasium for cultural presentations.

UNO-R searches for Outstanding Alumni

 

The annual search for Occidental Negros Institute (ONI), University of Negros Occidental (UNO) and UNO-Recoletos outstanding alumni is on. The Blue and Gold Alumni Association, Inc. is now accepting nominations for the search. Deadline for the submission of nominations is on August 15, 2007.
