Once we go back to the Book of Leviticus, we read the whole Book devoted to the Priests of the Old Testament – the Levites. The tribe was chosen by God to sanctify Him by bringing His people near to Him. Members of this tribe would end up as high priests of Israel. The Hebrews believe that it is Yahweh that has chosen a soul to be his sanctifier and placed him into the tribe of Levi.

There was once a Filipino pupil who attended his History class and was asked for the date of Philippine Independence and he got confused on the meaning of independence for he knew that there were many independence days in the Philippines . Good, because the situation made him think. The same boy grew up and entered college and was again asked the same question in his Philippine History course. There was really a great change in his response. He no longer questioned the dates but he wittingly answered, “ It depends upon the will of the President.”
Many religious events had passed but were not recognized by many of us for either we are too busy campaigning or busy talking about politics. Holy Week, Divine Mercy inauguration, opening of Flores de Mayo and the like just passed without seeing the religious significance of these holidays.
