The study of efficient and practical methods for designing, constructing, and maintaining physical components used in managing data and in performing computations has been the area of research and development in the field of computing. The body of knowledge upon which such work is based constitutes the field known as computer science. The science is growing at an accelerating pace and developing contacts with other fields of knowledge. It spans from its theoretical and algorithmic foundations to cutting-edge developments. It focuses on the design and implementation of software, devise new ways to use computers, and the development of effective ways to solve computing problems. The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) Program offers the opportunity to acquire the basic concepts that are the foundation to the engineering of hardware components and software systems used within the computer. The program stresses a breadth of comprehension of hardware and software concepts because the interaction of the separate components is crucial to the successful engineering of both hardware and software design.
