University President Fr. Dionesio Cachero, OAR, officially inducted into office Dean Nieves Hibaler-Pepito as new dean of the CAS during the Installation Ceremony of New Lay Administrators held on July 2 at the President’s Hall.
In her acceptance speech, Hibaler-Pepito thanked the Recollect Fathers for the trust and the chance of serving UNO-R. In return, she also proclaimed her commitment and devotion to duty, with “talk less and do more,” as the new CAS college administrator. In the face of other people’s description that her appointment to the post is like she being thrown into the Lion’s den, she said she would prefer to be like Danielle who would tame the lions with her renewed kindness, “even to the most insignificant, cynical, and critical.” Hibaler-Pepito described her relationship with UNO-R as a romance which bloomed despite the early marriage. The falling in love, she said, started at age 16, when she first entered its campus as freshman student of BS Mass Communication and AB English, which she both finished in five years. The new CAS dean was installed, along with the new dean of College of Nursing and new principal of UNO-R High School Department. VP for Academics Fr. Joel Alve , OAR, read the appointments of the new lay administrators, while HRD Director Fr. Walthrode Conde, OAR, gave the rationale of ceremony, which he explained as an outstanding tradition and practice of recognizing the authority inherent to the positions. University Chaplain, Fr. Excel Saycon, OAR, opened the event with a prayer, as Fr.Cornelio Moral, OAR, closed it with his greetings of congratulations and encouragement.# |
