fr, william villaflor The UNO-R community celebrated the feast of St. Augustine, August 28, 2018.  The day opened with a Concelebrated Mass in honor of St. Augustine.  The Main Presider is Rev. Fr. William Villaflor, OAR and concelebrating with him are Fr. Ronel Gealon, OAR; Fr. Persiuz Decena, OAR; Fr. Walthrode Conde, OAR; Fr. Cristituto Palomar, OAR; and Fr. Amadeo Lucero, OAR. Lay administrators, Faculty and staff and the Recoletos Educational Assistance for Deserving Students (READS) joined the Eucharistic celebration. Fr. Villaflor quoted the most repeated prayer of St. Augustine in his Confessions, “ O Lord, Command what You will and give me what You command.” He recounted the story of one of the greatest defenders of the Catholic Church –St. Augustine.  Fr. Villaflor said that St. Augustine is a symbol of God’s mercy and our model for conversion for he is a great sinner-turned-saint. He reminded everyone that the life of St. Augustine was that of “la vida loca” but because of the Grace of God and the unceasing prayers of St. Monica, conversion happened.  So, he invited everyone to always put their trust in the will and grace of God. He also shared that sin is a reality by the Grace of God is a greater reality. So he ended his homily again with the prayer of St. Augustine, “O lord, command what You will and give me what You command.”  The Holy Mass was followed with the procession of the image of St. Augustine from the Oratory to the Main lobby.
